So apparently quite a few people have come to expect and enjoy my summaries of conferences I’ve attended, because I’ve already gotten a number of inquiries as to why I haven’t yet posted about this last weekend’s ToorCon. In short, it’s because I wasn’t there!
This last weekend it was both an honor and my pleasure to attend the wedding of two of the most amazing people that I have ever known. My long-time friend Zonk and his lovely girlfriend of many many years Alissa tied the knot. As the wedding itself and subsequent reception was on Sunday afternoon and evening, for a while I was in fact scheming on how to both make it to ToorCon as well as fly back at the last minute and attend the wedding, but as the mother of my children was actively involved in the wedding preparations themselves, and toddlers can’t really be left to their own devices, the logistics just didn’t work out. Instead, I relaxed at home with the kids drawing and playing video games, we attended a co-worker’s 2-year-old’s birthday party, and on Sunday I attended the wedding, which couldn’t have been more perfect for the two of honor.
All is not lost for ToorCon goodness though, as a co-worker of mine was in attendance and will be posting a write-up to the BreakingPoint Labs blog shortly. I’ve also been working on a few new research topics and since ToorCon has been gracious enough to accept me to speak on nearly every paper I’ve ever submitted to their conferences, I’m sure I’ll be back in attendance soon enough…
